What's this?
Welcome to the website of Netropolis; a community-driven network of internet-accessible infrastructure ranging in age from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s.

Okay Then?
Netropolis is just getting started and is just getting started. I'll be starting with a few pieces of core infrastructure to get the ball rolling:

  • Avocent ACS48 Console Server
  • Cisco Catalyst 3560 Switch
  • Cisco 7206 VXR Router
Eventually we'll be adding a PTZ network camera that will let users zoom in and see the network first-person.

But wait, there's more!
The below is a list of network equipment we have on-hand and will be adding to the network in the very near future.
PS - A good amount of other systems (servers, *nix systems, etc) are also available to eventually add into the mix as requested. Many of these can also be virtualized for more convenient access.

  • Adtran Total Access 908
  • BayStack Access Node
  • CentreCOM FH812u Switch
  • Cicso Routers: 1000, 1601-R, 2502, 2620, 2650, 2911, 3600, 4000
  • Cisco Misc: Aironet 340, Switchprobe
  • Livingston IRX Router
  • Paradyne ComSphere 3610
  • TELEPHONE STUFF

So, how will this work?

  • Access to Netropolis will be enabled with WireGuard VPN.
  • Accounts to be distributed to community members.
  • Netropolis will be operated as a time-sharing system; members will request dedicated timeslots as not to interfere with each other's work.
  • Device configs TBD; Maybe supporting membership tiers can have pre-wiped or pre-loaded configs and access to TFTP server.
  • Topology changes TBD; A basic topology can be connected-up for all members with custom topology requests for supporting members.

Work Log, Updates, TODOs

  • 12.10.2025: Website published
  • TODO: Migrate website to custom Apache or Nginx server to get around HTTPS enforcement.
